“The golden age of America begins right now,” President Donald J. Trump told the country on Monday, Jan. 20, as he officially returned to the oval office and delivered his inaugural address as the 47th President of the United States.
Due to harsh temperatures, the ceremony took place inside the Capitol Rotunda, which is the first time a U.S. president has delivered their inaugural address indoors since Reagan’s second term back in 1985.
The ceremony included a performance by country singer Carrie Underwood as she sang an a cappella rendition of “America the Beautiful.” Other big names that will give performances over the next few days of celebration at the Capitol include Kid Rock, Rascal Flatts, Nelly and more.
Some notable big names that attended the inauguration include Joe Rogan, Theo Von, Connor McGregor and more. Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerburg were also present at the event.
“From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world,” Trump said in his first speech as the 47th president. “We will be the envy of every nation, and we will not allow ourselves to be taken advantage of any longer.”
Trump spent a majority of his address emphasizing the plans he has to fix the border crisis.
“First I will declare a national emergency at our southern border,” he said. “Under the orders I signed today, we will also be designating the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.”
Trump specified that he will be invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, which would allow the president to detain or deport citizens of enemy nations.
Trump stated that he would also be directing members of his cabinet to “marshal the vast powers at their disposal” as a means to combat the current inflation problem America is facing.
“That is why today I will also declare a national energy emergency. We will drill, baby, drill,” he said. Trump said that he will end the Green New Deal and revoke the electric vehicle mandate as a means of “saving our auto industry.”
President Trump also signed a bill that pardons upwards of 1,500 people who were charged for the January 6th capitol riots.
“These people are hostages,” he said.
Following the address, a rally style celebration was held in which Elon Musk, the administrator of the Department of Government Efficiency, gave a speech in which he boasted about the victory in the election.
“This is what victory looks like,” Musk told the crowd as he placed his hand on his heart and saluted the crowd.
