Women’s soccer falls to WKU in final match of the season

The Marshall University women’s soccer team concluded its season after falling to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Friday evening at Hoops Family Field with a final score of 3-1.

The Herd’s final record for the 2019 season is 4-14-0 (2-8 Conference USA).

The Hilltoppers improved its season to 10-6-1 (6-4-0 C-USA).

Senior forward Marah Abu-Tayeh scored the Herd’s only goal throughout the game. Abu-Tayeh recorded nine goals this season, leading her into a six-way tie for second most in a season in program history. Her tallied 24 points is good for fourth-most in a season in program history. She also had 17 career goals.

Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsay Langley had five saves in the match. Langley finished the season with 97 saves, placing her at fourth-most in a season in program history.

For the Hilltoppers, redshirt freshman midfielder Lucy Lyon, junior forward Ashley Leonard and sophomore midfielder Isidora Pekez all scored one goal each. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Anne-Marie Ulliac tallied two saves.
