Piff the Magic Dragon is performing as part of the Marshall Artists Series.

“America’s Got Talent” contestant Piff the Magic Dragon, will bring his blend of comedy and magic to the Keith Albee Performing Arts Center on Nov. 16.

John van der Put, professionally known as Piff the Magic Dragon, first appeared on NBC talent show “America’s Got Talent” in 2015. He placed in the top 10 contestants for the season.

In late 2015, van der Put became the resident performer at Flamingo Las Vegas, a hotel and casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Along with his magic routine, van der Put is accompanied by his identically dressed chihuahua, Mr. Piffles, and Las Vegas dancer, Jade Simone. His show also features audience participation.

Van der Put looks forward to interacting with people from West Virginia at his upcoming show.

“I love all the audience participation, so I want to see what West Virginia has to offer in terms of audience participants,” van der Put said. “Are they going to be super happy and compliant, or are they going to try and ruin my life? What’s it going to be, West Virginia?”

Van der Put said he wants his audience to participate and have a good time.

“The thing about my show that I love is that we just make people happy for an hour and a half,” he said. “It’s a super funny show, and there’s a lot of interaction from the audience, and people come away saying, ‘Oh my God, I haven’t laughed like that in forever.’”

Van de Put went on to say, “There are other people out there doing the brave political comedy. They have something to say, and they’re making points that need to be made. But as a guy in a dragon outfit, that’s not really my gig. My gig is just to give you as good a time as possible and send you home happy.”

The event will begin at 7:30 p.m. Marshall students can get free tickets upon showing their student ID.
