Dinosaurs, princesses and monsters filled the Huntington Museum of Art (HMA) to celebrate Night at the BOO-seum and HMA’s 100th Fourth Tuesday event Oct. 22. 

“On the fourth Tuesday of every month, we do a different themed program at the museum,” said Cindy Dearborn, director of education at HMA. “It is our 100th Fourth Tuesday Tour.”

Not to be confused with Macy’s Free Tuesdays at HMA, where Macy’s sponsors free admission for all visitors every Tuesday, Fourth Tuesday is a special event that the museum hosts once a month with a new theme each time. 

“We’ve been doing this for over eight years now,” Dearborn said. “Tonight is really a celebration of Halloween.”

Boo-seum is one of the larger themed Fourth Tuesday events for HMA. Dearborn estimated 200-250 people were in attendance at the Boo-seum event this year. 

According to its website, HMA has developed a mission to “act as a presence and advocate for the areas of arts, education, and nature. HMA’s mission is furthered by its four commitments: to acquire and display objects of art, provide excellence in education and arts experiences, maintain a plant conservatory and nature trails, and expand its service population.” 

Dearborn encourages anyone interested in the event or any museum event to come by and visit.

“Every fourth Tuesday. Different theme, totally free for everyone,” Dearborn said. “Welcome to all ages, especially Marshall students.”

Along with multiple Halloween guests throughout the museum, guest appearances were made by Salvador Dali and Vincent Van Gogh to share a few art history facts with visitors. 

The night was full of family-friendly and Halloween-inspired art, a scavenger hunt, food and fun, according to Dearborn. 

Fourth Tuesday Events are from 7 to 9 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of every month and open to the public.
