The Huntington Museum of Art will host a fine art auction at 5:30 p.m. Saturday with nearly 100 works of art to support the museum and its many programs.

The auction will feature original works of art by contemporary, regionalist artists and paintings by well-known artists. Among the artists is the cameo glass artist Kelsey Murphy, whose work is currently part of an exhibit at the museum. Other West Virginia artists whose works will be featured includes Paula Clendenin, Chuck Ripper, Lee Ann Blevins and Susan Petryszak.

Artworks by historic artists include a fall landscape by Ohio painter John S. Conway, an engraved 16th century print by the noted German artist Heinrich Aldegrever, an early oil showing a tavern exterior by Ohio painter James Roy Hopkins and a Provincetown watercolor by John Cuthbert Hare.

There are also a number of modernist pieces, including a print by “Op Art” founder Victor Vasarely, two design gouaches by New York WPA artist Witold Gordon and a “Balloon” print by noted mobile designer, Alexander Calder.

The artworks are available at every price level to accompany both people that are new to attending an auction and experienced collectors.

Attendees will be invited to view the works at a reception before the auction from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., where the public will be able to closely look at the works offered for sale. Admission to the event is $10 per person and includes refreshments and appetizers.

For those who wish to bid, but cannot attend the auction, the museum will offer the opportunity to bid by phone as well as to leave bids to be executed by the auctioneer. A buyer’s premium of 10 percent will be added to all successful bids.

The works included in the sale were supplied by private donors, living artists and several galleries doing business with the museum.
