First Presbyterian Church will host a presentation called Portal to Recovery. The presentation will be led director of the Mayor’s Office of Drug Control Policy, Jim Johnson at 7 p.m.

The Mayor’s Office of Drug Control Policy promotes the health and safety of citizens by introducing plans to decrease the amount of drug related crimes. The purpose of the church’s event is to bring awareness to city’s drug issue.

“Huntington is fighting the battle of addiction and it’s a problem,” said associate pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Skip Seibel.

First Presbyterian will host other events focusing on drugs and drug prevention. On Oct. 6 at 6 p.m., Ed Hughes will present, Baffled by Addiction, as part of the Loved Ones meeting. Loved Ones is a support group for those who have know and are affected by an addict.
