Marshall University’s Office of Assessment is preparing surveys and prizes for Assessment Day on April 14.
In February students will begin receiving emails about surveys they can take and will be entered to win prizes on Assessment Day.
Mary Reynolds, associate vice president of assessment and quality initiatives, said the drawing will take place in the Memorial Student Center, and each student who participates in the surveys will get a small thank you gift.
“These assessments are looking at how well students can analyze information, to solve problems and to write effectively,” Reynolds said.
Seniors will be notified about the senior assessment via email and in their capstone classes.
The drawing prizes are one iPad mini and 10 Marshall University bookstore gift cards worth $25.
Seniors will be invited to complete an exit interview at the Office of Career Services. They also have a graduation survey they can fill out.
The first invitation will be sent out Feb. 24, and several reminders will be sent after. The drawing prizes for completion of this survey are one iPad mini and eight Marshall bookstore gift cards worth $50.
The last assessment is the student service office survey. This survey will not be open to students until late March.
“We don’t just ask students to do these and then just throw them a drawer,” Reynolds said. “We really do analyze the results and figure out based on what students are telling us what are some things we can do to improve,” Reynolds said.
Surveys will be posted on the Marshall website.
