Petit Larceny
April 12, MUPD received a call from a resident stating a bike from the bike rack outside Freshman North residence hall was being stolen by an unknown male. The suspect cut the lock from the rack and rode off south towards 7-Eleven. Officers located the unknown male and followed him towards Sixth Avenue. When the officers caught up with the suspect, he got off the bike and stated the officers could have the bike and ran off towards CSX, where officers lost the suspect when he jumped between the train cars. Officers were able to recover the bike.
Petit Larceny
Between April 18 and 19, a Schwinn bike was stolen from the bike rack at Holderby Hall after the chain was cut. No suspects.
Underage Drinking Sting
MUPD in conjunction with the Huntington Police Department and Cabell County Sheriff’s Department conducted a “high risk and underage” sting on campus and surrounding areas April 20. Two citations were issued for littering and an open container violation. One citation was issued for underage drinking. One citation was issued for possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
Destruction of Property
April 21 at 4:28 p.m., a victim reported an unknown person had broken her passenger side mirror of her 2012 Honda Accord while it was parked in the Maple Avenue parking lot. No suspects.
