City Council to rename street “Chad Pennington Way”
The Huntington City Council agreed Monday on the name change of 10th street on Veterans Avenue to “Chad Pennington Way.”
The street was chosen because of the number Pennington wore during his career at Marshall. City Councilman David Ball sponsored the resolution to rename the street.
“Since Chad has left Marshall, he has grown into someone I can only hope my children grow up to be like,” said Ball. “He is generous, well educated, a leader. A true leader of, not just on the athletic field, but in his personal life as well. He has adopted Huntington as his second home.”
Mayor Steve Williams also took the podium to explain what Pennington has done for the city of Huntington and how he has “embraced” the city and has continued to try and help it grow.
The city council has not set a date for the name change, as they are waiting for Pennington to be in Huntington.
