Marshall students show set to show their talents at Thunder on the Stage

Thunder on the Stage will give some Marshall University students the chance to show off their talents Monday, March 6 at the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse.

There is no entry fee, and the general public is invited to attend the talent show, which will begin at 7 p.m.

The Department of Housing and Residence Life has hosted Thunder on the Stage for nearly four years. This year, Twin Towers West is planning the event.

“This event is an opportunity to host an array of performances, such as musicians, comedians, poetic readings, baton twirling, etc.,” said Allison Pierce, event coordinator and residence director of Twin Towers West.

“[The show] really gives our students a chance to show off their talents in a way that fosters campus engagement,” Pierce said. “We have had hundreds of students each year attend, we’re able to highlight the talents of 10-20 students each time.”

Registration for Thunder on the Stage ended Feb. 27. For the performers of the show, award prizes are available to the top three acts of the night. Prizes will be shopping sprees equivalent to $300, $200 and $100 respectively per placement at Amazon.com. Specific restrictions apply in regards to the State of West Virginia Purchasing Procedures.

“It’s a great event full of energy supported by multiple departments on campus,” Nicole Lane, sophomore forensic science and chemistry major, said. “Not only is Student Affairs sponsoring it, but Towers West staff and other RAs are helping organize and advertise for the event.”
