‘Cinderella’ graces the stage at Keith-Albee

The Keith-Albee Theater was home to a true display of talent as the State Ballet Theater of Russia presented “Cinderella” Tuesday.

The company performed a two-hour ballet packed with skill and beauty. Students from several West Virginia counties were in attendance, making the ballet a wide-reaching production.

The ballet was choreographed by Vladimir Vasiliev and the score was provided by Sergei Prokofiev. The “Cinderella” production is a tour the State Ballet Theater of Russia is taking throughout the United States with 55 dancers.

“I’m extremely glad that they brought more classical dance to the area,” Carleigh Napier, a sophomore biology major at Marshall University, said.

“I loved the ballet so much,” Zoeie Seaman, a junior political science and history double major, said. “I’m a big ‘Cinderella’ fan, so it was exciting to see it as a ballet. All of the ballerinas were so talented and beautiful.”

“Cinderella” is a story known all around the world, and beloved by many. But the ballet brought it to life in a whole new way. A theater full of spectators watched as the State Ballet Theater
of Russia brought the fairy tale to life through three acts.

All three acts highlighted the prima ballerinas, Tamara Fokina and Ekaterina Tikhonova, who portrayed Cinderella in the production.
