Outstanding Warrant
Nov. 20 at approximately 4 a.m., a Chevy Cavalier with Ohio registration was seen driving at 51 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone. After the driver was identified, the officer discovered the driver had an outstanding warrant for malicious wounding in Cabell County (Malicious wounding is assault and battery where the victim was very badly hurt). The driver was arrested and transported to Western Regional Jail.
Assault
A victim was returning to her vehicle after swim practice at approximately 6:15 p.m. Nov. 18, when a male in a referee outfit was seen pulling on the victim’s door handle and shaking the vehicle. The victim approached the man and asked if she could help him. The man started screaming, “You blocked me in. You should have never blocked me in.” The victim is unsure if she will press charges.
Possession
Nov. 26 MUPD officers were dispatched to a room in Freshman North. There was a smell of marijuana. A student admitted he was in possession of marijuana and was given a citation.
Battery
A student reported being assaulted by three males Nov. 30. The victim came upon the three of them while riding his bicycle and sensed they “were going to do something,” so he sped up to get away. Upon doing so, the males threw a beer bottle, which struck him in the arm. MUPD is still looking for the males involved.
