A Marshall University student was fatally shot March 18 on the 2000 block of Donald Avenue in Huntington, according to a release from the Huntington Police Department.

Joshua Martin, 21, of Huntington, was shot multiple times in the back after an encounter with a resident of the neighborhood. He was last seen at a birthday party in the Pullman Plaza hotel the evening prior to the shooting.

Micah LeMaster, 37, of Huntington, was charged with the shooting and taken to Western Regional Jail. His bond was set at $750,000.

The investigation is ongoing, and an autopsy is being completed in Charleston, according to the HPD.

Martin was a native of Huntington and had jobs throughout the Cabell County area, according to his obituary in the Herald-Dispatch.

Martin’s funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chapman’s Mortuary in Huntington.
