Men’s golf heads into final round at C-USA Championships

The Marshall University men’s golf team fell into a tie for eighth place Monday after the second round of the Conference USA Championship with a score of 22-over 598.

Top-seeded University of Alabama at Birmingham leads in the 13-team tournament. Louisiana Tech University trails by one stroke.

Marshall head coach Matt Grobe said he thought his team had a rough day of competition.

Grobe said the team has to play its best round of the year in the second day of competition in order to be in contention.

Marshall junior Clark Robinson remained atop of the Herd’s scorecard, totaling 3-over-par 147 through two rounds.

The Herd will play a final 18-hole Tuesday. The top four teams advance to a seeded match-play round, which will be held Wednesday.
