USA Today Title IX Article Stirs Controversy

One of the first controversies of Smith’s presidency took place on Nov. 16, 2022, when a USA Today article showcased the failings of Marshall University’s Title IX Office in dealing with the rape of a student. The article sparked outrage from students, with a protest held shortly after outside of Old Main.
