Marshall University’s tennis team travels to the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina Friday and Saturday for the 2016 ITA Kick-Off Weekend.

Marshall, which was selected No. 53 by the recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, will face the University of Tulsa 10 a.m. Friday in the opening match.

Tulsa enters this weekend after picking up 34 individual wins and only dropping three matches at their Hurricane Invitational.

The Golden Hurricane followed with two 4-0 sweeps over Oral Roberts and Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Tulsa is ranked 48th in the recent ITA Tennis Rankings.

After Friday’s match, the Herd will face either North Carolina or Yale University at 3:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m., depending on results from Friday. 

The two-day event includes 60 teams nationally at 15 different sites and will determine this year’s qualifiers for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships to be held Feb. 5-8 in Madison, Wisconsin.
