SGA elects senate executives
New executives were elected at the Marshall University Student Government Association’s meeting Tuesday.
These new executives include Madison Davis, parliamentarian, Kaitlyn McClure, treasurer, and Elise Gooding, sergeant-at-arms.
The parliamentarian serves as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. The parliamentarian is to be an advisor to the Senate and any committee on procedural matters. Some duties include keeping track of the senators’ attendance to ensure they are meetings the standards of SGA.
“It’s an honor, especially because our SGA is so active and involved throughout campus. It’s important to me that everyone’s voice is heard,” Davis said.
Treasurer serves as chair of the Senate Finance Committee. The treasurer is to have shared power with the president pro-tempore to ensure expenditure reports are completed, turned in on time and that the funds were spent appropriately.
“I’m really excited. Coming to Marshall I looked up to the SGA. Every organization deserves to excel, and it’s an honor to be a part of that,” McClure said.
Sergeant-at-arms serves to maintain order at all meetings and works to ensure the comfort and convenience of the senators and serves as treasurer in the event of the treasurer’s absence.
These executives, along with the SGA Senators, will take on their responsibilities to make sure not only the SGA runs smoothly, but also Marshall’s community.
