MUPD asks campus cyclists to register bikes
Marshall University’s Police Department is encouraging all students and faculty who cycle to get their bike registered as soon as they can.
Following up on the bike theft issue, MUPD said they want students and faculty to have the security of knowing that if their bicycle is stolen, having it registered can make the search for finding it a lot less stressful.
“Bike theft has always been an issue on our campus, but for some reason this semester it has increased even more,” Sgt. Scott Ballou of MUPD said. “Bikes are getting stolen and sold to pawn shops around the area right and left.”
Over the next few weeks, MUPD will be hosting bicycle registration on the Memoriral Student Center plaza every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“To register your bike, you will need to know the serial number, make and model of your bike and the color,” Ballou said.
