Track and field team competes in Hilltopper Relays
The Marshall University track and field team competes in the Hilltopper Relays Friday and Saturday in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
The event is hosted by Western Kentucky University.
The Hilltopper Relays is the first event for Marshall this season that is hosted by a fellow Conference USA member this season, indoor and outdoor.
Last week, the Herd competed in two meets, the Cherry Blossom Invitational and the Pepsi Florida Relays.
The Herd picked up one win at the Cherry Blossom Invitational with sophomore Melany Belot winning the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.49).
Marshall had three secondplace performances with two coming from freshman Kalya Haywood in the 100m dash (12.57 seconds) and 200m dash (26.68).
At the Pepsi Florida Relays, the Herd’s highest result came from freshman Elena Marchand with a ninth-place toss in shot put (13.62m).
Over 700 athletes will compete in the Charles M. Rueter Track and Field Complex for the two-day Hilltopper Relays.
The event begins 1 p.m.
