Sodexo to donate turkeys to City Mission for MSC lunch purchases

Students can be a part of the Sodexo Stop Hunger program by buying chicken and dumplings for lunch at the Huntington Market Wednesday, Nov. 9 in the student center.

Marshall University Sodexo will donate one turkey for The Huntington City Mission’s Thanksgiving Dinner for every 10 orders of chicken and dumplings.

Cheryl King, general manager of Sodexo at Marshall, said they are hoping to sell 440 orders, as the Huntington Mission is in need of 44 turkeys.

“This is a way for students who don’t have the money in their pocket to donate,” King said. “They still have to buy lunch and, by buying their lunch, they are also helping someone else.”

King said it is very helpful to the community because the Huntington Mission has more people that continue to use it after the downturn in the economy.

“I think it’s always important that we understand the needs of the community,” King said. “Sometimes students forget their needs are met and it’s good to think about the needs of others as well.”
