MU Huntington and South Charleston Campuses Connect

Marshall University’s student body president, Matt Jarvis, and his student government team are working diligently to get the students at the South Charleston campus more involved at the main campus.

The South Charleston campus is great for students who want the education Marshall offers and also be close to home, but what some students there might not know is that everything that is offered at the Huntington campus is also available for Charleston students as well.

“We get the ‘Herd Happenings’ emails, but a lot of students here have jobs and need to request off time to participate,” South Charleston student Brian Stein said.

Students on the main campus and students at South Charleston are currently looking for events and opportunities that would physically connect the campuses.

“I think it’s important to get our South Charleston students more involved at the main campus. Our student services and other benefits of going to Marshall are for those students, but I think it’s important that they know that the clubs and organizations are also there for them,” Jarvis said.

“Having people we know at the main campus sort of gives us comfort knowing we have friends where we are eventually going,” Stein said.

One of the ideas to connect the campuses includes creating a shuttle system between the two campuses for various events, such as athletic games, guest speakers and different events on either campus.

“We want all of our students to feel connected, valued and loved and we are prepared to do just about anything to make that happen,” Jarvis said.
