The Marshall University Housing and Residence Life staff is preparing for their third annual talent competition.

Thunder On The Stage is open to all students and hosts a variety of talents.

Senior public health major Meena Elango said she thinks the talent show is a great way for students to showcase their abilities.

“It’s a place where people can be themselves and show their peers something new,” Elango said. “This year I want to see something really different. I feel like we always see the typical emcees or singers. I want to see someone do a dance routine or twirl.”

Junior engineering major Isaac “Shelem” Fadiga won the contest last year by rapping and singing an original song. Fadiga said Thunder On The Stage was fun and he really enjoyed it.

“I think it’s great,” Fadiga said. “Do your best and have fun. It’s okay to be nervous.”

Fadiga said the show is not only cool for spectators, but it’s a great way for performers to get experience.

“I’ve been making music since ninth grade and the show last year was my first time ever performing,” Fadiga said. “It was my first opportunity to display all my hard work.”

Students must sign up before February 22 to enter the competition.

Thunder On The Stage will be held February 29 at the Joan C. Edward’s Playhouse and first place will be rewarded a $300 shopping spree.
