Marshall football player arrested

A Marshall University football player was arrested Wednesday after a Marshall police officer reportedly witnessed him assaulting a female. Brandon Drayton, a redshirt junior safety for Marshall, is now being held at Western Regional Jail on a $55,000 bail. 

Drayton was charged with felony strangulation and domestic assault after being seen forcibly grabbing the victim’s neck and shoulder area, according to reports. 

The reports stated the incident took place at approximately 12:15 p.m. in the 400 block of 21st Street. The report said the victim had visible red marks on her neck causing pain.
