Marshall graduate, Lt. Gen. to lecture on “Civic Responsibility”

Marshall graduate, Lt. Gen. Anthony Crutchfield, is giving a lecture titled “Civic Responsibility” at the Joan C. Edwards Playhouse Sept. 9 at 2:30 p.m.

Crutchfield graduated from Marshall University in 1982 as a Distinguished Military Graduate in the ROTC, receiving a Regular Army commission. Upon graduation, Crutchfield ranked in the top 10 percent in the nation.

Crutchfield has accumulated 35 years of service and has a long list of accomplishments, the most recent being from 2012 to 2014 when Crutchfield served as the Chief of Staff of the United States Pacific Command. In June, 2014 he assumed responsibility as the Deputy Commander of the United States Pacific Command, which means Crutchfield is second in command only to the President in overseeing operations for every military realm, such as the Marine operations, Coast Guard, Air Force and the Navy. Crutchfield also handles foreign relations with nations such as Japan, Philippines, Hawaii and South Korea.

His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the Master Aviator Badge and the Parachutist Badge, to name a few.
