Upcoming events for Women’s Studies Program
The Women’s Studies Program discussed upcoming events they will be hosting during a meeting Wednesday.
The biggest upcoming event they will be hosting is the Fourth Annual Monologues Project: Pillow Talk, which will be held on March 31. The event is sponsored and organized by the CONTACT Rape Crisis Center, the Marshall University Women’s Studies Program and the Women’s Center.
Anyone who wants to submit a monologue, poem, short story or nonfiction piece may do so to Kristen Lillvis, who is an associate professor of English and is on the advisory board of the Women’s Study Program. The submission deadline is Friday, Feb. 10.
Once people’s pieces have been chosen, there will be auditions on Monday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. in Corbly Hall room 306 and again on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. at the CONTACT Rape Crisis Center offices.
During the Wednesday meeting, everyone was able to practice writing a piece of monologue or ode, in case those who came wanted to submit their writings for review.
Lillvis said anything submitted to her will only be seen by her. She also said the authors are allowed to remain anonymous and other people can audition for the reading of another author’s work for the event on March 31.
