In the past year, downtown Huntington has seen several new businesses pop up, whether it is a new restaurant, a food truck or just a place to get a cup of coffee.
Now Third Avenue will add another new business in just a couple weeks, “Peace, Love, and Little Donuts.” The donut shop is something new and unique to downtown Pullman. The Pittsburgh franchise has locations across the East Coast and mid-west, including Morgantown, West Virginia.
The idea to open up a shop in Huntington was brought by Chris Hall and his wife Michelle. Hall frequently traveled to Pittsburgh on business, where he stopped at the original Peace, Love, and Little Donuts. Hall then had the idea to put up a shop in Huntington, because of the lack of options for donuts here.
Peace, Love, and Little Donuts isn’t your average donut shop. With its “hippie” theme and in-store made donuts, the Halls believe this will be different from anything Huntington has to offer.
“We just want to be part of the community here, and that’s what our goal is here,” said Michelle Hall. “The donuts are all made fresh to order. We make them right there, so you know they’re not sitting overnight in the store. We make them at the site as people come in.”
With the revitalization of downtown Huntington, businesses have been able to move into these older buildings and bring back the successful downtown area it used to be.
“Downtown Huntington is so beautiful,” said Michelle Hall, “but a lot of the buildings have gotten run down over the years and not gotten the attention they need. And its these kind of projects that revive the community I think.”
Much of what the donut shop will also do is catering events and fundraisers. The Halls say one of their first events will be to cater to a charity event for “One by One Animal Advocacy,” where a portion of their proceeds will go to the charity as well.
Peace, Love, and Little Donuts is scheduled to open the week before Thanksgiving, just in time for the Holiday season.
