Marshall University’s Student Body President Duncan Waugaman and new Vice President Izzy Rogner were inaugurated into office Sunday.

Rogner was the first to be recognized during the ceremony. She was introduced then gave her speech on becoming the new student body vice president.

“I am a firm believer that people take pride in 14,000 students and an institution that does not take second best as an option,” Rogner said. “Whatever the obstacle, no matter the hardship nor how overwhelming the loss, that is our legacy and that is our promise, because we are Marshall.”

Rogner talked about the upcoming plans she and Duncan have for her year in office.

One of those plans includes the 24-hour bus that will run from campus to Pullman Plaza free to students who do not own cars.

Waugaman, who is returning for a second term, talked about how excited he was to return to office and all of the plans he, Rogner and their staff and have for the next year.

“Measures of success for a student body president and executive staff is one of accomplishment,” Waugaman said. “When we promise we are going to do something, we must do it, but we must also being able to adapt to the everyday factors of the university and set our priorities accordingly.”
