Training session to prepare students for PRAXIS exam

Educational Testing Service in conjunction with the College of Education and Professional Development will hold a one-hour session Nov. 30 in an attempt to prepare students for the upcoming PRAXIS exam.

Kandice Rowe, director of the Student Center of Professional Education Services, said the university has held similar events in past years, but, for the first time, ETS will have a representative on campus to lead it.

Several topics will be discussed in the session, including a general overview of the praxis program, teacher licensure and certification and test prep strategies and tips for taking the PRAXIS CORE and entry level exam, as well as the PRAXIS II, which is required prior to graduation.

“Practice is a huge hurdle for College of Ed. students, but I think having the company come in and explain it is going to be very beneficial and we’ve had a great response and a ton of students to RSVP,” Rowe said.

PRAXIS 101 is a free event open to all COEPD students, and will take place at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Student Center, Room BE5.
